Although tamoxifen is highly effective in fighting breast cancer, its role is limited

Tamoxifen can be very successful in preventing the recurrence of breast cancer in women who have received treatment for early breast cancer. However, the benefits of tamoxifen diminish after five years. In fact, it is thought that taking tamoxifen beyond five years may actually increase the risk of breast cancer recurrence. Now a study has shown that taking an aromatase inhibitor after tamoxifen may be a treatment plan that will work for patients who want therapy after tamoxifen.
